James R. Satterfield Jr. 1937-2025

HOWLAND -- With profound sadness, we announce the passing of James R. Satterfield Jr., 88, on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 4, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital; he was surrounded by his family.

James was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Fairmont, W.Va., a son of the late James R. Satterfield Sr. and Leo Batson Satterfield.

He was a 1955 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he was a truck mechanic at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. He worked at Republic Steel (RG Steel) as a millwright for 44 years until he retired in 1999.

He was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish-Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren; Mecca Moose Lodge 1012; VFW 1090; Trumbull County Rod and Gun Club; Eagles 1476; American Legion 2025; Western Reserve Fish and Game Club; Warren Gun Club; and Base Community Council at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.

He enjoyed camping, shooting and dancing with his wife at the Moose. He was big on spending time with his family, whether he was teaching his daughters and grandchildren how to shoot, traveling the country in the pop-up trailer, building cars and Volkswagen engines, decorating the house for Halloween and having Nerf wars throughout the house. He would spread positivity everywhere he went and reminded everyone to think "Happy Thoughts."

James will be deeply missed by his loving wife, whom he adored, Jacqueline Satterfield, whom he married June 25, 1960; daughters, Christine (Richard) Smith, Rhonda (David) Wiles, Brenda Houston and Sandra (James) Davis; grandchildren, Elaina (Charles), Richard (Lin), Stephen (Chelsea), Kendra (Josh), Alexandra (Dalton), Owen and Olivia; and great-grandchildren, Jenna, Chuckie, Emily, Kira, Alyna, Elijah, Klair, Kadence, Khloe and Levi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittany Wiles; sisters, Maryann and Margaret; and brother, Orville.

Family and friends may visit 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday Nov. 9, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren.

A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish-Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren.
