KINSMAN — John James Kovach Jr., 77, a decorated Air Force veteran and dedicated family man, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1948, in Ravenna, to John and M. Ruth Carver Kovach.
John graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1966. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Air Force. His distinguished military service earned him six Air Force medals, the Distinguished Flying Cross and permanent crew wings. John was a gunner with the Spectre AC-130 gunship squadron. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was an avid collector who enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. His passion for collecting brought him joy and fulfillment throughout his life.
