Jean F. Panak 1930-2025

KINSMAN -- Jean Frances Panak, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at her home surrounded by her beloved family.

Born April 23, 1930, in Valley City, she was a daughter of the late Ralph George and Hilda Branch Deimling.

Jean graduated from Colebrook High School in 1948. On Oct. 23, 1955, she married the love of her life, Albert Joseph Panak, at St. Mary Church, Orwell, marking a beautiful 27-year partnership.

Jean was a dental assistant at Dr. Donald Chionchio's dentistry practice in Kinsman for several years before retiring in 2005. Beyond her professional life, Jean was known as the beloved "neighborhood mom," always opening her heart and home to others. She was an avid needleworker, finding joy in crocheting, embroidery and sewing, creating countless cherished items for her family and friends.

A woman of deep faith and community spirit, Jean was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kinsman. She also dedicated her time as an auxiliary member of American Legion Post 506, a Lady Knight of Columbus, as well as a Girl Scout leader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Panak; her son, Daniel J. Panak; three sisters and three brothers.

Jean is survived by her loving children, Diane Panak Venzera, David Panak and Denise Panak, and her daughter-in-law, Liz Sodergren. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ben Kines) Fahling, Daniel (Amy Lopez) Fahling, Michael Fahling, Ben Panak and Sydney Panak; as well as her great-granddaughter, Zoe Jean Fahling. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Deiming, and two sisters, Rosemary Jones and Barbara Nightengale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, at Our Lady of Hope Parish-St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kinsman, presided by the Rev. Kevin McCaffrey of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish-St. Mary Church, Orwell.

Burial will follow services in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta Township, Cortland.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to Southern Care Hospice, Expand Home Health Care, the doctors and nurses at St. Joe's Hospital, and the home health aides.
