Martha D. Jesionek 1929-2025

MACEDONIA -- Martha Dorothy Jesionek, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, in Macedonia.

Martha was born July 5, 1929, in Southington, to the late Michael and Cecelia Halavick. She was the middle of three children; her brothers, Rudolph and Edward, preceded her in death.

Martha met her beloved husband, John, at her parents' tavern in Warren; they married July 19, 1958. They were dedicated to each other and their family until John's death in 2017. Along with John, Martha provided years of compassionate, devoted, meticulous and loving care to their disabled son, Michael, who preceded them in death in 1996 after a long struggle with metachromatic leukodystrophy. Their youngest daughter, Christina "Chriss" Wagner, passed away in 2022.

Martha was a homemaker. She was loved by family and friends for her gentle, patient and welcoming disposition. She was an excellent cook and baker; her kolache and pies were revered. Together with John and their friends and family, she enjoyed polka dancing. She loved gardening and house plants. Her hobbies also included sewing and crocheting. She had an ornery sense of humor, and she loved to laugh.

Martha and John were longtime members and very active volunteers of their Catholic parishes in Warren (St. Joseph Church) and later Ambridge, Pa. (Good Samaritan Church).

Martha is survived by her daughter, Sandra Jesionek; son, Paul (Sophia) Jesionek; and grandchildren, Jacob (Hadley Jaeger) Jesionek, Mykaela (David Young), Nathan Wagner, Jared (Katie) Jesionek and Jack (Anna) Jesionek. Martha will be remembered by them for her steadfast dedication to her family and her advice to "just be yourself."

Family and friends may pay their respects to Martha from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, where a funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Father Christopher Cicero as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Champion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the MLD Foundation, https://mld.foundation/donate.
