Joseph G. Simonetti Jr. 1940-2025

LORDSTOWN -- Joseph G. Simonetti Jr., 84, passed away peacefully Monday Sept 22, 2025, at his residence and went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

He was born Oct. 24, 1940, in Cleveland, the son of the late Joseph George Simonetti Sr. and Sophie Mary Lapinskas Simonetti.

Joseph had lived in Lordstown for more than 30 years and was formerly of Cleveland, where he graduated from Collinwood High School, Class of 1958. He worked as a pipefitter at General Motors in Euclid and Lordstown, retiring in 2019 after 41 years of service.

Joseph married the love of his life, Carol Ann Ormston, on May 18, 1984, and they enjoyed the past 41 years of marriage together.

He was a longtime attendee of Warren First Assembly of God and a member of the UAW Lordstown Local 1714.

Joseph loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, word searches, building things with his own hands and mowing his grass. He and Carol started a private cat rescue group, Saving Cats Abandoned, Abused and Traumatized (SCAAT). Together, they managed SCAAT for over 20 years, finding homes for countless kitties. The mission was to rescue cats, have them spayed and neutered, and find them homes to be adopted into.

Joe will be forever missed by all those he loved and those who loved him.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Joseph G. Simonetti III; a sister, Josephine Simonetti; and two brothers, Paul and Jim Simonetti.

He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Simonetti of Lordstown; two daughters, Marie Hawkins of Anna, Texas, and Angela Simonetti and Michael Dotson of Pelham, Alabama; three bonus sons, Stephen Behun of Rocky River, Jody Behun of Youngstown, and Jason and Jennifer Behun of Warren; one bonus daughter, Tara and Brian Koper of Lordstown; one sister, Constance Scott of Warren; one brother, Frank Simonetti of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date and time.

He will be laid to rest in Lordstown Cemetery.
