Karen Lorrane Hall 1938-2025
CORTLAND — Karen Lorrane Hall, 86, passed away peacefully, Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1938, in Champion, Karen was the youngest of 12 children in the Williams family — eight sisters and four brothers. She often shared fond memories of her childhood in Warren, especially the joy of growing up surrounded by so many loving siblings.
Karen spent her entire life in Northeast Ohio, where she built a home filled with love, laughter and good food. She cherished family reunions and gatherings with her brothers and sisters, where card games and lively conversation were always a part of the fun. She loved cooking, camping and sitting around a campfire telling stories — always ready to help the crowd make s’mores.
A devoted mother to her four children, Karen was also a dedicated caregiver, serving many years as an assistant nurse in Newbury, providing compassionate care to the elderly. Karen will be remembered for her daringness and humor. She delighted in telling stories and hearing jokes,and she shared many laughs with her friends and neighbors, often engaging in good-natured practical jokes.
Karen was married to the late Richard F. Hall for 35 years until his passing in November 1993. She also shared a close and special friendship for 17 years with her late friend, Jim Wilcox, until his passing in 2012.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Haar (Bill), Bryan Hall (Patty), Todd Hall (Lisa) and Kenny Hall (Megan Mines-Hall); 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Darlene Bean.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; her dear friend, Jim; and her 10 other siblings.
A celebration of Karen’s life will begin with calling hours and a service 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at Best Funeral Home LLC in Middlefield. Following the service, Karen will be laid to rest beside her husband, Richard, in Shadyside Cemetery, 11725 Washington St., Auburn Township, OH 44023.
Services are open to all friends, family and those whose lives were touched by Karen.
