Pantelis Liogas 1936-2025

WARREN — Pantelis “Pete” Liogas, 88, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 4, 2025.

Pete was born Aug. 26, 1936, in Dorion, Greece, the son of Dimitri and Amalia Tselios Liogas, and moved to Montreal, Canada, in 1959, and then to the Warren area in 1961.

Pete had a long and fulfilling career as a chef in Montreal and then in the Mahoning Valley working at the Kings Table, The Flamingo and Antone’s Banquet Center, as well as working 19 years at Van Huffel Tube. He retired in 2007.

He was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and volunteered his time at their annual Greek festival. Pete enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and going on family vacations to the beach. He was also an expert at barbeque and being a grill master.

He leaves behind to hold onto his memories, the love of his life, his wife of over 63 years, the former Marguerite Kostiou, whom he married May 13, 1962; his two children, Seva Liogas and Dimitri (Maria) Liogas; his two grandchildren whom he adored, Dr. Maranda Liogas and Mikayla; and his brother, George Liogas; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his brother, Spiro; and two sisters, Emelia and Ourania.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Pete 10 to 10:55 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St. NE, Warren, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with Fr. Demetrios Constantine presiding.

Burial will take place in Niles City Cemetery.

Pete’s family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Hospice House for all the care and compassion shown to Pete and the family throughout this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pete’s name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St NE, Warren, OH 44481; or Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
