Faye A. Brock 1951-2025
CORTLAND — Faye A. Brock, a woman who lived a life as vibrant and spirited as the fireworks on the Fourth of July, said her final punchline on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Born in Warren on March 28, 1951, Faye’s early life was as spirited as her final years.
A proud graduate of Lakeview High School, Class of 1969, she parlayed her smarts into a paralegal degree that served her well during her tenure at Kmart, where she was as much a staple as the blue light specials.
Family was the cornerstone of Faye’s world.
She is survived by her adoring sister, Della (Dave) Delong of Goose Creek, South Carolina; her loving children, Terry (Michelle) Wolfe of San Antonio, Texas, Christine Brock and Michael (Theresa) Brock of Summerville, South Carolina; and her cherished grandchildren, Breanna (Andrew) Larrison, Austin Kelly, Trenton Brock, Matthew Brock and Alexandria Wolfe; along with many nieces, nephews and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Florence “Betty” Walton; and brother, Herbert J. “Jay” Walton.
An adventurous soul, Faye never let the grass grow under her feet unless she was camping on it. She spent countless hours cheering on her kids and grandkids at various sporting events, and when she wasn’t on the sidelines, you could find her fishing or camping — and probably both at the same time. Her winters were spent in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where she was known as the unofficial “Shark Tooth Hunter.” She could spot a shark tooth from a mile away, a skill that surely would’ve impressed the sharks themselves.
Faye was the epitome of loving, adventurous and friendly. If you knew her, you loved her, and if you didn’t know her, well, that was your loss. She had a knack for making friends everywhere she went and she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In the spirit of Faye’s humorous outlook on life, we recall the words of the great Groucho Marx, “I intend to live forever, or die trying.” Faye certainly gave living forever her best shot, and with all the lives she touched and the memories she’s left behind, her spirit will continue to shine bright.
As we say goodbye to Faye A. Brock, let’s remember her with a smile on our faces, a fishing pole in our hands and the knowledge that somewhere out there, she’s probably negotiating a killer deal on a heavenly Kmart blue light special. Farewell, Faye, and thanks for the laughter.
