Linda A. McCarthy 1942-2025

WARREN — Linda A. McCarthy, age 83, of Warren, previously of Waterford and Harborcreek, Pa., passed Saturday, June 21, 2025.

She was born on March 21, 1942, in Girard, Pa., to the late Douglas and Virginia Barrante Bostwick. Linda graduated Rice Ave High School in 1960.

She was a loving wife of 51 years to the late James V. “Mac” McCarthy. She earned her B.S. in accounting from Penn State Behrend in 1988, then worked at TSI – Lake Erie Trucking and Hoffman Church and Religious Goods.

Linda enjoyed cruising with Mac in their black ’57 T-Bird, attending car races or snowmobiling together. She was a longtime treasurer of Presque Isle Snowmobile Club, and Erie Crawford Snowmobile Alliance, and served as treasurer of PA State Snowmobile Association. She and Mac were both honored to receive Member of the Year awards and individual Lifetime Achievement Awards from PISC and ECSA. Linda and Jim received the PA State Snowmobile Association’s Family of the Year Award in 2008.

She was a lifelong dog lover, avid reader, and enjoyed crosswords and word puzzles. She loved shopping days with friends. Linda was an active member of the Warren Music Club. She became a Eucharistic minister for Roman Catholic Churches in Warren, delivering the Eucharist to the faithful in homes and hospitals.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Constance (Paul) Peterson and Patricia (Andrew) Bartfai.

Survivors include dog, Zoey; son, Patrick (Georgia) McCarthy of Howard; daughter, Beth Knauff of Sharpsville, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Jamie Crisman, Jamie Mausser, Nicholas (Cheyenne) Goelz, Morgan and Payton McCarthy, Sonora and Seth Knauff; one greatgrandson, Sam Goelz; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Peter Rossi and Sons Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, with a prayer service following.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at St. James RC Church, 2635 Buffalo Road, Erie, Pa., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., then a private burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to the Warren Music Club, 200 Country Club Drive SE, Warren OH 44484 or to pawsofwar.org in recognition of her love of pets and a granddaughter serving in the Middle East.
