Thomas C. Knight 1934-2025
GREENE TOWNSHIP — Thomas Charles Knight, 91, a lifelong area resident, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his daughter’s home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Greene Township, the son of the late Charles Eugene Knight and the late Helen Evangeline Dirmeyer Knight.
A proud graduate of Greene High School, Thomas excelled on the basketball court. His love for the game endured after his school years.
On Aug. 31, 1957, he married the love of his life, Dixie Harrop Knight, and they shared 67 years together.
Thomas dedicated most of his life to his work as a self-employed dairy and grain farmer. He also ran a feed business. In his early years, Thomas cultivated the land using horses. He loved animals and being on the farm. Thomas made many memories dairy farming with his brother, Jack, and his father. He also made maple syrup ever since he was a child. He and his family ran a sugarbush until he was 70 years old.
Beyond farming, Thomas was skilled in construction and worked as a millwright.
An avid sports fan, Thomas supported all Ohio teams, cheering for the Guardians, Cavaliers, Browns and the OSU Buckeyes.
He was known for his generosity and humor. Above all, Thomas will be remembered as a devoted family man who always put his family first.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Knight of Greene; three sons, Roger L. (Jennifer) Knight of Milan, Carey T. (fiancee Gail) Knight of Jefferson and Brian T. Knight of Greene; two daughters, Kimberly K. (Randall) Urchek of Berthoud, Colorado, and Andra L. (fiance Darren) Knight of Greene; sister, Carole Coombs of Greene; brother, Earle J. Knight of Greene; nine grandchildren, Thomas Knight, Kevin (Maggie) Knight, Nicholas (Ashley) Knight, Susan Knight, Katey (Ian) Fontenot, Joshua (Gabriella) Urchek, Kathleen Urchek, Quinton (fiancee, Jessica) Urchek and Tara (Nicholas) Haney; and nine great-grandchildren, Sophia, Aiden, Eleanor, Giulia, Seamus, Declan, Maeve, Lucia and Bodhi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Norman Knight; and a sister, Anna M. Magdych.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday until service time at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and Udana Starkey for their compassionate care. They would also like to thank the community for all their support.
