Marguerite E. Hood 1927-2025
WARREN — Marguerite Estelle Chambers Hood, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by her four children in her room at Shepherd of the Valley, Howland.
Marguerite was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Niles, the daughter of the late John and Eva Chambers of Hunter Street. She attended St. Stephen School and graduated in 1945 from Niles McKinley High School.
Before starting her family, she worked as an executive secretary at Van Huffel Tube Company, then, years later, as a front desk receptionist at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, until her retirement in 1992.
She was a devoted mother and found purpose and enjoyment in volunteering, reading and tending to her many houseplants and lovely garden.
She will be dearly missed by her loving family: her daughter, Patricia Clark (Jeff) of Caryville, Tennessee; son, Matthew Hood (Anna) of Warren; daughter, Susan Hood-Cogan (Bill, deceased) of Moreland Hills; daughter, Katherine Hood-Tatara (Mark) of Chagrin Falls; her nine grandchildren, Tim Clark (Mim), William Clark (Sarah), Alfred Hood, Elena Hood, Michael Hood (Giovanna), Marguerite Cogan-Perks (Kyle), Liam Cogan (Laura), John Tatara and Lily Tatara; three great-grandchildren, Bodhi Perks, Leo Clark and Eva Clark; a sister, Patricia Black of Ocala, Florida; in-laws, Robert and Martha Hood of Adamstown, Maryland; and her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred Hood; three sisters, Mary Huff, Roselyn Watson and Lois Burlingham; and three brothers, Robert Chambers, William Chambers and Bernard Chambers.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon, with a memorial service at noon Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, Warren, where Deacon Robert Simmerly will officiate. A luncheon will follow the service.
Inurnment will take place privately in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.
