John R. Molnar 1944-2025

CORTLAND — John R. Molnar, 80, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, peacefully at his home with his wife by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Katie Molnar, whom he married Sept. 29, 1990.

Born Aug. 21, 1944, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late John and Mary Molnar, and was raised on the family farm.

John retired from Packard Electric as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and was a 33rd degree Mason. He was also a member of the Shriners and volunteered to transport children and their families to their appointments.

He loved playing golf and enjoyed playing Santa on Christmas Eve.

In addition to his loving wife, Katie, of 35 years, he leaves his three stepchildren, Tim Duncan of Warren, Tony (Shelia) Duncan of Southington and Angela (Sean) McDonald of Florida; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Brenda (Kenny) Gold; brothers, Robert (Sue) Molnar and Rick Molnar; brother-in-law, Brian Bucher; and his best friend, Will.

Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road, Warren

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Masonic services will begin at 5:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in John’s name to Shriners Children’s, donate.lovetotherescue.org, a cause close to his heart.
