Phonexay ‘Dan’ Malavong 1976-2025
WARREN — Phonexay “Dan” Malavong, 48, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.
Born in Vientiane, Laos, on March 13, 1976, Dan touched the lives of many with his warm spirit and unwavering love for family.
Dan is survived by his beloved sons, Jordan Malavong and Christopher Reese; and his cherished grandson, Kai. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Khamla Malavong; and his siblings, Akee Malavong, David Malavong, Somboun Malavong, Karen Phimmasane, Joanna Insysiengmay, Lily Malavong, Boualorn Malavong and Khonesavan Malavong.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored and who will carry forward his legacy of love and connection.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phong Malavong; and his brother, Buaphan Malavong.
Dan found joy in many aspects of life. He was a passionate cook who delighted in sharing meals with family and friends, and found solace in Morlum music, beloved 1990s rap and the thrill of lowrider mini trucks. He enjoyed spending time playing billiards and darts, along with fishing adventures that he cherished with his father in his youth.
Dan also enjoyed hiking and exploring nature. His favorite color was blue. His career as an extrusion operator at Therm-O-Link spanned over 20 years, where he showcased his expertise with the CV1 machine, a testament to his steadfast dedication.
A simple man at heart, Dan adored his sons and grandson, always striving to remain connected with his extended family, no matter the distance that separated them.
A gathering of friends and family will take place 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake, OH 44095. A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at the funeral home.
