Oma ‘Christine’ Pierce 1937- 2024
HOWLAND — Christine Pierce, 87, departed this life Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
She was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Macfarlan, Ritchie County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Vernon and Ethel Mearl McCray Haught.
She married Richard Kesling on May 26, 1956; he preceded her in death.
Christine and Richard shared two children who survived her, Kimberly Strohmeyer and Mark Kesling, both of Howland.
Christine was a graduate of Doddridge County High School, where she played the trumpet in the band. Christine re-married to Allen Pierce on April 30, 1976, in Berryville Clark County, Virginia. Alan preceded her in death, Dec. 8, 2006.
She was a hard worker; she retired after many devoted years at Packard Electric, where she was a laborer.
She was a guiding light and pillar of strength for all who crossed her paths. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the simple, yet profound joy of caring for others. Christine is also survived by her three grandchildren, Heather Kondilas (Josh) and Michael Strohmeyer II, both of Howland, and Kristen Howell (Jeremey) of Daphne, Alabama; as well as six great-grandchildren, Carissa Harris and Stephen Kondilas (Nicole), both of Kinsman, Noah Howell and Carter Howell, both of Daphne, Alabama, and Brooklyn Strohmeyer and Micah Strohmeyer, both of Howland; along with four great-great-grandkids.
Christine enjoyed many things and truly made life beautiful. She loved Amish Country, making trips to West Virginia, singing in the choir, teaching vacation Bible school, bowling and all the time she could get with her family.
She was a longtime member of Beacon of Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by her four siblings, Naomi Dillon, Gerald Haught, Arlene Bland and Grant Haught; and son-in-law, Michael Strohmeyer I.
Christine was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister and aunt. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, with Pastor Gary Hennessey presiding.
Graveside burial will follow in Howland Township Cemetery.
