SOUTHINGTON -- Ruth E. Vasbinder, 82, passed away of kidney failure, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at Windsor House in Champion.
She was born Oct. 6, 1942, the daughter of Andrew Petrulak and Elizabeth Hatala Petrulak at Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren.
Ruth was a 1960 graduate of Chalker High School in Southington. She was valedictorian of her class, a member of National Honor Society and attended Girls State. She loved her daffodil garden, and she collected Avon and stamps.
She retired in 2000 after working 30 years for Alcan Aluminum in the corporate accounting department.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alvie Vasbinder, whom she married on Alvie's birthday, Aug. 27, 1968. She is also survived by sisters, Nancy Leeper of Cortland, Sally Petrulak of Massachusetts and Carol Walden (Tom) of Champion.
According to Ruth's wishes, cremation will take place. There will be no calling hours or services. Ruth will be laid to rest next to her mother and father in Southington Reformed Cemetery.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her husband and her few kitties, especially Big Grey Guy.
