WARREN -- Shirley Ann Cross, 95, went to meet her Heavenly Father on Friday morning, Sept. 6, 2024.
She was born March 27, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Norman W. and Willa Frances Harrison Tilley.
The family moved to Swissdale, Pa., when she was 6 years old. She attended Swissvale School and graduated in 1947. In 1949, Shirley Tilley married Okey Cross of West Farmington. They met at Conneaut Lake Park at the Blue Streak roller coaster.
Shirley had been an Avon representative for six years and then sold Tupperware for 29 years.
She loved to send cards and letters to all her friends. Some would affectionately call her the "Card Lady." She also loved to telephone them. Shirley really loved her family and friends, and she had many.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Virginia Ann (Gerald Braden), Judith Lynn (Michael McKenna) and Mary Frances Cross (Norman Spencer); her son, Raymond Edward (Robynn) Cross, with whom she resided; and her grandson, Michael Christopher Cross.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Okey T. Cross; and her best friend ever and sister, Joan Tilley Chambers, who passed away on Sept. 6, 2017, exactly seven years to the day before Shirley.
The family wants to give very special thanks to Hospice, Kara, Paula, Bill and Wayne, and the others who cared for her. She will be carried in the hearts of the family and friends forever.
Visitation will take place 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a noon service Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at the Farmington Community Church, 220 College St., West Farmington.
She will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery, West Farmington.
Arrangements for Shirley were entrusted to Borowski Funeral and Oak Meadow Cremation Services.
