Alphonso Johnson 1949-2024

BROOKLYN, New York -- Mr. Alphonso Johnson, 74, of Brooklyn, New York, formerly of Warren, transitioned to eternal peace on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024.

Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 7, 1949, in Shelby, Mississippi, a son of Neil Williams and Dorothy Johnson.

He was a 1967 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He was also certified in barbering and cosmetology. He had been employed with the City of New York as a lead-based inspector for over 20 years, retiring in 2023. Alphonso enjoyed jazz music, walking his dog, nature and was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Knicks.

He leaves to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life and legacy, his mother of Warren; two daughters, Yolanda Daniels of Warren and Jessica N. Johnson of Plantation, Florida; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sisters, Renee (Fred) Stringer of Youngstown and Rosemary Johnson (Ronald Williams) of Columbus; his longtime companion, Alissa "Lisa" Webb; his fuzzy friend, Rudy; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Lamar Johnson; son-in-law, Joseph Daniels Sr.; and man's best friend, Leo.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon, with a celebration of life ceremony to follow at noon on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at the Trinity Baptist Church, 235 Highland Ave. SW, Warren, OH 44485.
