CORTLAND -- Rolland "Butch" Jones Jr., 75, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024.
He was born May 16, 1949, in Warren, the son of Rolland A. Jones Sr. and Arlene Snyder Jones.
Butch married the love of his life, Kathleen Capan, on May 22, 1971, enjoying 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Butch was a loving husband, father and most proudly, papa. He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as cooking, gambling in his lucky green shirt and spending time at the lake on his beloved boat.
At a young age, Butch acquired a love for flying, taking lessons from Ernie Hall, where he obtained his pilot's license before he even had his driver's license.
Butch worked for many years as an insurance agent for John Hancock, where he was honored for many achievements. In addition, he had a passion for law enforcement, serving as a police officer for the Cortland Police Department, Trumbull County Sheriff's Office and finishing his law enforcement career as the chief for Johnston Township.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; daughter, Amy (Shawn) Robinson of Newton Falls; granddaughters, Taylor Dlugos and Madison Rutherford of Newton Falls; sisters, Deborah (John) Chlebus of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Cynthia "Cindy" Fryer of Howland; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rolland and Arlene Jones.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service following at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, at Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St., Cortland, OH 44410.
