William R. Templeton 1955-2024
CHAMPION — William R. Templeton, 68, of Champion, formerly of Newton Falls, passed away due to a massive heart attack Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
He was born Aug. 22, 1955, in Columbus, Georgia, a son of Norman D. “Darl” Templeton and Martha Brown Templeton.
The life of Bill touched the hearts of many. He was a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and friend, and he was cherished by all who knew him. Bill found immense happiness in being with his family. Bill’s grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he treasured every moment he spent with them. They were his whole world.
He also enjoyed drag racing his Camaros, shooting pool, playing blackjack, horseshoes, and harness racing his 32 horses. He was deeply passionate about coaching both his children’s teams and positively influencing the lives of many children.
His businesses, named after his children, Dustin Energy and Royal Lindsay Acres, speak volumes about the love and pride he had for his family. He ran Dustin Energy for 40-plus years.
His dedication to serving his community shone through as he was elected trustee for Champion Township for four terms. Bill’s love for his community knew no bounds, and he always went the extra mile to help those in need. His passing was completely unexpected and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta J. Templeton; son, Dustin (Sylvia) Templeton; daughter, Lindsay (Kevin) Perry; mother, Martha Templeton; sisters, Darlene (Jeff) Hancock and Deanna (Denny) Wadding; brother, Bob Templeton; grandchildren, Madison, Jacob and William; nephews, Brandon (Karin), Jonathan and Jimmy (Melea); along with nieces, Kristen and Sarah (Eric).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Peggy Templeton; his father, Norman D. “Darl” Templeton; brother, Eric Templeton; and niece, Joy.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, and again one hour prior to the service time.
Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery, Champion.
