Carol A. Stein 1940-2024

CHAMPION -- Carol A. "Cookie" Stein, 83, passed from this earth to the heavens above on Monday, June 24, 2024, following a battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Warren, the only child of the late Harold E. and Marguerite E. Fenton Lantz.

She graduated in 1958 from Howland High School, where she made many lifelong friends; but one particular fellow caught her eye -- her high school sweetheart, Charles "Chuck" L. Stein, whom she married on Dec. 26, 1958.

Cookie retired from Trumbull Career and Technical Center as a paraprofessional and was a member of Champion Christian Church.

Chuck and Cookie were married for 65 years. Together they raised three children in the home they built in Champion, Debra Ghindia, Lori (John) Kiepper and Jeff (Rochelle) Stein. Along with her husband and children, she is survived by five grandchildren, Rachael (Dan) Derr, Samantha (Ryan) Amato, Andrew (Kerry) Kiepper, Elizabeth Ghindia and Tessa Stein; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Helen (Vic) Kapcsos, Shirley (Ron) Kapcsos and Gerry (Kent) Fusselman; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday, June 28, 2024, at Champion Christian Church.

Funeral services will be noon Friday, at the church.

Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Champion Christian Church, 151 Center St. NW, Warren, OH 44481.

The families wish to extend their gratitude to Southern Care Hospice caregivers, Elaine Nicolaus, Bernice Spencer, Diane Schlosser, Melinda Chapin, Kim Ray and Jill Brewster.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
