KINSMAN -- Rita O. White, 94, died Monday, May 20, 2024, at The Grove at Greenville, in
Greenville, Pa.
She was born Oct. 5, 1929, in Gustavus, the daughter of William and Hazel York Westenfelder. Rita was a lifelong resident of Kinsman and was a 1947 graduate of Kinsman Public School.
On June 1, 1947, she married the love of her life, Byron Robert "Bob" White. Rita was a lifelong homemaker and worked at the family business, Hard Rocks Gravel Pit. She also owned and operated Hidden Hollow Bed & Breakfast, at her home in Kinsman. She was an active member of the Kinsman United Methodist Church and was baptized on Sept. 28, 2014, at Cortland Trinity Baptist Church. Rita's hobbies included quilting, reading, sewing, gardening, swimming, baking and decorating cakes for all occasions, including numerous wedding and birthday cakes. She loved anything to do with nature, as well as cooking and baking for her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Bob; an infant daughter; her grandson, Jason Lauren Martin; her only sibling, Elsie Westenfelder Fell; and brother-in-law, James Fell; her beloved cousin, Sandra Jackson; and her daughter, Kathleen Martin.
Survivors include her sons, Byron Edward (YuYung) White, Terry Robert (Susan) White, both of Kinsman; Daniel Richard (Lanette) White of Deland, Florida; her grandchildren, Kimberly Ellis of Florida, Jennifer (Randy) Jewett, Kari (Wesley) White-Peska, Jessica (Adam) Matthews, all of Kinsman, and Timothy White; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and cousin, Sally Terry of Conneaut, Ohio.
Within the past several years, Rita suffered from dementia and kidney failure.
Per Rita's request, no services will be held.
