Joseph A. DeJute 1953-2024
HOWLAND — Joseph A. DeJute, 70, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2024.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1953, in Niles, a son of the late Robert DeJute and Gloria Gasper and was a 1971 graduate of Niles High School.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he served with the Seabees during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to work in the machine shop of Fire Foe Corporation manufacturing pipe until his retirement. He had most recently worked delivering materials for Alcon Manufacturing.
Joe was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast who spent countless hours riding his bike, traveling with his wife on rides and loved taking vacations to the beach with her.
He leaves behind his wife, the former Jodi Foster, and his stepson, James D. Hamer, both at home; his siblings, Cathy Elliot of Niles and Robert (Barb) DeJute of Tampa, Florida; his in-law family, John and Arlene Foster of Counce, Tennessee, John (Luann) Foster of Howland and Cathy Whelpley of Savannah, Tennessee; and his many longtime friends and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no services at this time, and a Celebration of Joe’s life will be announced at a later date.
