WARREN -- Janet Marie Yocum, 77, passed away peacefully at her home and surrounded by family, Saturday, May 4, 2024. Janet was born May 15, 1946, in Warren, the youngest daughter of Michael and Helen Paholsky Madgar.
She was a 1964 graduate of Leavittsburg High School and went on to work for over 30 years with Delphi Packard Electric. Outside of work, Janet enjoyed playing tennis, walking and watching her shows. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, including taking trips to Las Vegas and Florida with them, and meeting them for lunch and shows.
Most of all, Janet enjoyed spending time with her family. She never missed a day in her life, and always was sure to put her family's events and activities first. She celebrated her family's achievements with pure love and joy, and cast love into the world through her glowing pride and strength. Anyone who knew her was touched by her spirit, kindness and humor. Janet thought of her family as her greatest blessing and they view her as their greatest gift.
Janet was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. She was baptized in the church and continued to attend weekly Mass there throughout her life.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Yocum. Janet and Robert were high school sweethearts who married in 1966 and remained married until his passing in 1997.
Janet will always be remembered by her daughter, Lynda (Art) English; her son, Daniel (Tonni) Yocum; her two brothers, Ron (Gail) Madgar and Norm (Susan) Madgar; and six granddaughters, Elle English, Madyson Yocum, Gracie Yocum, Ava English, Aubree Yocum and Ivey English.
Family and friends may visit and pay tributes 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren.
The funeral Liturgy will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 180 Belvedere Ave. NE, Warren.
Janet will be laid to rest in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janet's name to the church.
