WARREN -- Bonita I. Evans, 81, found peace from her longtime battle with COPD when she passed on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Bonnie was born in Meadville, Pa., on Jan. 10, 1943, the daughter of the late John and Isabelle Hogue Bower, and was a longtime Warren resident.
Bonnie married her husband, Randall S. Evans; and together they raised a family and started their life in Warren. They were both very community-minded and Bonnie was proud to be a "Jaycette" -- the women's group (team) of the Warren Jaycees of the 1970s, where she and her husband, Randall, made lifelong friends.
Bonnie enjoyed being with people and belonged to a number of groups and clubs during her early years. She had many varied interests including bowling and going to bingo. She loved watching cooking shows and trying out new recipes that she could share with her friends. She loved to travel and managed to see a lot of the country during her lifetime. Her one regret was that her declining health prevented her from visiting her granddaughter in California.
Bonnie lost her husband, Randall, in 2011 and outlived most of her family; she is survived, however, by her three daughters, Karen Blair, Sharon Rumbarger and Cathie Evans, all of Warren; grandchildren, Ryan Blair of Pittsburgh, Pa., Kara Evans (Adam Gumont) of California, William Rumbarger of Warren and Sylvia (Andrew) Novak of North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Elijah Evans, Dylan Gumont and Josslyn Gumont of Sutter Creek, California, and Serenity, Joanie and John Novak of North Carolina.
There will be no calling hours or services.
Bonnie was very generous in spirit and soul. She would prefer that a kindness be shown to someone or a donation be made to the Warren Family Mission. If it were to be of a charitable nature, a donation may be made to any other outreach program, or in lieu of flowers, to the family who will get together to remember Bonnie, at a later date. Bonnie would just be happy if she had brightened your day.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Trumbull Memorial, who allowed Bonnie to spend her last days in peace and dignity. A special mention to Shepherd of the Valley in Howland, where she made friendships with the staff and residents during her many visits for physical therapy; she was determined not to let anything interfere with the life she had made for herself.
Burial will be in the Howland cemetery, where she will rest in peace next to her husband.
