HUBBARD -- Roy Ivan Reeves, 96, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
He was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Johnston, Ohio, and was the last of nine children to Laura Ellen Bagley and Joseph A. Reeves.
After school, Roy joined the United States Maritime Service and was discharged in December of 1945.
On Jan. 1, 1950, he married Charlotte Marie Williams. A longtime Kinsman resident, Roy moved close to his daughters in Hubbard this past September.
Roy owned and operated Reeves Auto Body in Kinsman and worked before that at the former Harrison Motor Company of Warren. In his retirement, he lent a helping hand at Nelson's Garage in Kinsman, until the past few years. He was formerly a member of the Vernon United Methodist Church.
Roy was a member of the Harry Lees American Legion of Kinsman. For many years he and his wife spent the winters in Fort Myers, Florida.
He enjoyed both bowling and golfing and was in a regular league. Roy also enjoyed taking care of his lawn and doing woodworking. He would take his daily walk up Route 7 so he could spend time with friends, for lunch at Nancy's. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Charlotte; five sisters, Retta P. Hegel, Martha L. Hudson, Margaret B. Strange, Clara Belle Fitzsimmon, and Lucy Ellen Herron; and three brothers, George T., Glen E., and Joseph E. Reeves.
Survivors include his four children, Roy L. (Carlene) Reeves of Fort Myers, Florida, Suzanne M. (Thomas) Reeves of Hubbard, Sandra J. Templeman of Seminole, Florida, and Tammy E. (Thomas) Gray of Hubbard. He also had 10 adoring grandchildren, Christopher, Renee, Dawn, Melissa, Chad, Shawn, Rheannon, Ryland, Christopher and Sarah; 20 loving great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at the funeral home.
