James E. Wade 1948-2024

ORANGEVILLE -- James Edward Wade, 75, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Orangeville, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024.

He was born Feb. 15, 1948, in Sharon, Pa., the son of Grandon and Doris Jones Wade.

James was a Joseph Badger High School and a Bowling Green University graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany, from 1972 to 1974.

James retired from teaching and coaching at Joseph Badger High School, in 2003. He coached both boys and girls basketball and boys baseball teams and was the coach of girls basketball for 20 years.

James was a member of the Orangeville Methodist Church and the Cabin, a group of card playing friends. He was a member of the Badger Sports Hall of Fame and was in Boy Scout Troop 57, where he was an Eagle Scout and later a leader. James spent many years on the Orangeville City Council. He helped organize the Memorial Day parade and was curator of the Orangeville History Center.

James is survived by a sister, Judith (Jon) Cunningham of Oakhurst, California; a brother, William Wade of Pittsburgh; and a niece, Kellie Cunningham.

There are no services planned for James at this time.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
