Charles W. Clark Jr. 1947-2024

ASHLAND -- Charles W. Clark Jr., age 77, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at his residence, with his wife by his side.

Born Jan. 28, 1947, in Sharon, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Elsie Mikker Clark Sr.

Charles was a 1965 graduate of Howland High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1971, as a sonar technician. He married the former Nancy Stiver on Aug. 6, 1977; and she survives.

He retired as a project engineer, beginning his career with United Telephone and continuing in the company as it became Sprint, Embarq and Century Link, from 1977 until 2010.

Charles was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, where he served as chairman of the church council and as a chairman of the finance council, as well as an usher. He was a 48-year member of the American Legion Post 700 in Howland Township. He enjoyed boating, yard work, sports, the family dogs, trains and spending time at the family cottage at the lake. He was a member of the Redbrook Boat Club and had served as a volunteer fireman in Howland Township.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his children, Charles Clark and Carrie (Todd) Harpster; three grandchildren, Oliver, Johnathan and Autumn Harpster; and his sister, Patricia Clark.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at the Snyder Funeral Home Marion Avenue Chapel, 350 Marion Ave., Mansfield, OH 44903, where a funeral service will follow with celebrant Dave Roberts officiating.

Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, in Crown Hill Cemetery, Vienna.
