WARREN -- Teresa DeGood Pytlik, of Warren and Cortland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1954, in Columbus, to Consuelo Kent DeGood and James M. DeGood.
Terri is survived by her mother, Connie; brother, Doug DeGood; and countless close friends and family. She will always be remembered as the proud mother of her two sons shared with James T. Pytlik, James Andrew Pytlik (Claire) and Matthew Theodore Pytlik (Kelsey).
Terri was happiest as Grandma / Ti-Ti, spending time with her three grandsons, Jack (5), Theo (3) and Desmond Pytlik (1). She was preceded in death by her father, James M. DeGood.
A graduate of the Class of 1972 at Warren G. Harding High School, Terri continued her education at The Ohio State University as a member of the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Gamma, earning her bachelor's degree in elementary education. She went on to receive a master's degree in education administration from Ashland College.
Terri had a distinguished, 30-year career in Warren City Schools, taking great pride in the many students she impacted. Terri also served her fellow teachers as president of the Warren Education Association, and as an active member of the Trumbull Area Reading Council.
In her retirement years, Terri worked at Columbus City Schools, Pymatuning Valley and Cleveland Heights, serving as a consultant to help fellow teachers improve their effectiveness as reading instructors. She dedicated her later years to tutoring, working with students across the Warren area.
In her free time, Terri was a caring gardener, expert baker, groovy dancer and prolific scrapbooker, creating album after album for loved ones. She will always be known for her pies, cutout cookies, cheesecake, muffins and pesto.
As a lifelong Buckeye, Terri now returns to her alma mater, The Ohio State University, where her anatomical donation will contribute to critical studies in the fight against Alzheimer's disease -- one Terri heroically waged for 10 years. Her radiant joy and resilient spirit will live on in those who knew her. She will be forever missed, and forever celebrated.
A memorial service for Terri will be 11:30 a.m., with calling hours from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, Warren In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ken Weaver Fund for Warren City Schools students, founded in honor of Terri's late friend, who also faced Alzheimer's.
