HOWLAND -- Phyllis Lee Gospodarski was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother during her incredible 85 years of life. She passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at home with family by her side.
She was born to Phillip and Harriet Moslow on July 18, 1938. Phyllis was raised in Buffalo, New York, and attended Sloan High School. While in attendance, she met her high school sweetheart who later became her beloved husband, Raymond Gospodarski. They were married on Aug. 16, 1958, and celebrated happily for 65 years.
Phyllis worked for the Association for International Practical Training, where she started as a receptionist and worked her way to become a program manager in Columbia, Maryland. She retired from there after 17 years.
Phyllis was very active with St. Robert Catholic Church and provided much support during different events including rummage sales, bereavement lunches as well as other church functions. She also was a member of the Old Timers Club at St. Robert Church.
Phyllis and her husband, Raymond, enjoyed traveling and exploring the world together. From countless cruises to exploring other countries, Phyllis enjoyed the Caribbean beaches the most. When the loving pair were not traveling, you can find them on the dance floor polka dancing to their favorite bands.
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Raymond; her daughters, Kathy Shiley and Nan (Mike) Schnarrs; grandchildren, Matthew (Hunter) Schnarrs, Samantha (Jerry) Rouzzo, Stephanie (Brandon) Romer, Jennifer (Brandon) Arnett and Kaitlyn (Kyle) Tolla; and great-grandchildren Addie, Ryan, Elliana, Eason, Owen, Colton, Liam and Kayden, whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Harriet, and brother, Leroy.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date at St. Robert Catholic Church in Cortland (date to be determined).
