George E. Kepner 1928-2024
WARREN — George Edward Kepner, 95, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024.
He was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Warren, a son of Lee D. and Ruth Elizabeth Dillon Kepner. He graduated from Newton Falls High School and The Ohio State University, receiving extra credits at the University of Louisville, Rutgers and Michigan Tech. George obtained his master’s degree from Kent State University.
He began teaching science in the Warren City School system at Central Junior High School and continued at Turner Junior High School, for 39 years. George was very active, enjoying big-band music and dancing. He was a longtime member of YMCA / TFF, playing volleyball and swimming. He played tennis at Cortland, Packard and Buhl Parks and was a member of the Howland United Methodist Church. In the past, George was a trustee at Flat Rock Homes and Care Center, where his son, Guy, is a resident.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Kathleen Sipps Kepner, whom he married on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 1964; sons, Todd Edward Kepner of Warren and Guy David Kepner of Flat Rock, Ohio, and his nephew, Raymond (Cinty) Kepner of Pasadena, California.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, George Edward Kepner Jr.; a brother, David Kepner; and nephew, Lee D. Kepner.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
