Donald W. Geiger 1943-2024

LAS VEGAS -- Donald W. "Don" Geiger, 80, formerly of Cortland, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, in Hermosa Beach, California, under the care of his daughter, Reggie Anne.

He was born in Cleveland on March 21, 1943, the son of Albert and Virginia Geiger. He was a 1961 graduate of Cortland High School; a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1961 to 1965; and a graduate of the University of Nevada in business, which was followed by a successful career in real estate. He was a broker, licensed in 11 states.

He is survived by son, Attorney Donald W. Geiger of San Diego; his daughter, Reggie Anne Geiger; and their mother, Vicky McLaughlin of California.

Sadly missed by brothers, Alan Geiger of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Michael (Cristina) Geiger of Yuba City, California; three sisters, Mary Jo Abraham of Las Vegas, Nevada, Anne Harris (Les) of Dublin, Ohio, and Jeanne Nigro (Albert) of New York City, New York; aunts, Sister Rita Mackert and Janet (Jack) Ravotti; uncles, Paul (Jackie) Mackert, and Jim (Lois) Mackert; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Geiger; brother-in-law, Francis V. Abraham; and sister-in-law, Patricia Geiger.

Don had a passion for motorcycles and often rode his own "easy rider" Harley cross country from California to Ohio for family gatherings and high school class reunions. He was a member of various motorcycle groups.

He will be remembered for his relentless drive working nights as a card dealer in casinos to accomplish his college education and, later in life, using his business skills in real estate to support his family, yet always there to help his friends.

Services are pending with military honors and interment in the veterans cemetery in Post Falls, Idaho.

A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

Arrangements were by the Coastal Funeral Center of Lomita, California.
