Andrew Waite 1978-2023

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Andrew Waite, a devoted father, son, brother, husband and friend, reunited with loved ones at the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023. He was 45 years old.

Born April 24, 1978, in Youngstown, Andrew was the cherished son of Richard and Nancy Guglielmo Waite.

He is survived by wife, Gabrielle Badger Brown; their two sons, August Waite (age 6) and Boden Waite (age 3); his parents, Richard and Nancy Guglielmo Waite of Lordstown; his sister, Jaime Waite Oakely of De Soto, Kansas; his grandparents, Nicholas and Olga Guglielmo of Youngstown; his aunt, Anna Marie Guglielmo of Avon Lake; and his uncle, Nicholas Guglielmo of Westlake.

He was preceded in death by Christin Waite, MD, and grandparents, Richard and Gladys Waite.

Andrew spent his life helping others. He graduated from Lordstown High School in 1996 and from the University of Toledo in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He obtained his master’s degree in social work from Illinois State University in 2011. He spent over 20 years compassionately caring for those in need. He reunited countless families and secured treatment for society’s most vulnerable. Andrew was empathetic, kind and unwavering.

He was the kind of man you wanted in your foxhole when difficulties arose. He had a gentle manner — despite speaking so loudly he could be heard from space — and his laugh was infectious.

He would do anything to make Gabby and his kids smile. His children were his greatest joy and he especially loved making up silly games with them, looking at Pokemon and taking them fishing. He loved soccer, the Steelers and, like any good Italian, pasta and bread.

A celebration of Andrew’s life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Lordstown Administration Building.

Memorial contributions will be utilized solely for the education and care of August and Boden at www.gofundme.com/f/support-the-waite-boys.
