Frederick Clark Sr. 1952-2013

WARREN — Frederick “Fred” Igor Clark Sr., also known as “40 Black” Clark Sr., our beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, departed this life to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2023.

He was born May 10, 1952, to Mary Peterman Clark-Simmons and Calvin Clark Sr.

Fred was the oldest of 11 children. He attended Warren Western Reserve High School then later, enrolled in Lathers Local 2600 Apprentice School, where he studied lathing. He attended Midway Adult School, where he studied bookkeeping and filing. He also attended San Diego College of Business, where he studied business law and bookkeeping.

Prior to Fred’s passing, he was employed at Normandy Products Company, as a press operator. He spent numerous years of his career in the industrial field as a welder, and as a manager with Nemenz Save-a-lot. He was self-employed as an electrician, plumber, drywall and paint remodeler, and landscaper, and was also a legal researcher and adviser in business law. He was truly a jack of all trades.

Fred enjoyed cooking, spending quality time with his loved ones and socializing. Some of his hobbies included tinkering with cars, watching sports and cooking feast-style meals for his loved ones. Fred received the nickname “40 Black” from his high school friends, which stuck with him throughout the years. Fred spent a few years of his life in Chula Vista, Calif., Escondido, Calif., La Mesa, Calif., the Naval Exchange in Coronado, Calif., and finally, San Diego, Calif. Frederick would constantly talk about how he had some of the best times of his life in San Diego.

Fred leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Vanessa (Jenkins) Clark of Warren; children, Frederick (Jaedah) Clark Jr. of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mary Louise Clark and Journee Renee Clark, both of Warren, MSgt. (Ret.) Monica Jenkins of Tampa, Fla.,

Damone Jenkins Sr. of Youngstown and Shawnta (Anthony) White of Tampa, Fla.; his mother, Mary Clark-Simmons of Howland; mother-in-law, Diane White of Warren; and siblings, Sharron (Randall) Napier of Liberty, Cecelia (Jeffery) Martin of Austintown, John (Rosetta) Bender of Columbia, S.C. and Ruby (Stanley) Elkins of Howland; his brothers-in-law, Lonnie (Rheba) Jenkins Jr. of Norman, Okla., Charles Jenkins of Youngstown and Alvin Jenkins of New Castle, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Joan Johnson, Veronica Thurston and Idella Bell, all of Warren, and Rebecca Jenkins of Little Falls, Minn. Frederick also leaves to cherish him a host of grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and loved ones.

Frederick was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Clark Sr.; his brother, Calvin Clark Jr.; his stepbrothers, Timothy Bender, David Bender and Kenneth Bender; his step-sisters, Carol Bender and Shirley Bender; his nephew, Calvin “Peanut” Clark II; sister-in-law, Deborah Jenkins; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Services are 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with Pastor Derrick Anderson, officiant. Friends may call 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
