Dawn Pagano 1949-2023

NILES -- Dawn Pagano, 74, entered heaven Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born March 31, 1949, Warren, to T.L. and Frances Wood Boyer.

Dawn graduated in 1967 from Niles McKinley High School, where she met her husband, Mathew. The two were married Aug. 29, 1970. They had three children, Mark, Stacey and Mathew.

Dawn was a graduate from Trumbull Nursing School in 1970. After graduation, she worked one year at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She went on to work at Warren General Hospital, now known as St. Joe's, where she was loved and respected, as the midnight shift nursing supervisor, until retiring in 2012. After retirement, Dawn enjoyed going to the casino with her husband and going to lunch with her friends.

Her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with her grandchildren. Prior to her illness, she was at every game, recital, ceremony and event she could get to. She was affectionately known as "Gree" to her grandchildren.

Dawn will always be remembered by everyone who was lucky enough to know her, as one of the kindest persons they ever met. She left her mark on this world, and it will never be the same for her family and friends. During her most recent stay, Dawn was visited by numerous co-workers, and she received VIP treatment. Her family was fortunate to hear about the many wonderful memories they have of her and the impact she made on them.

Dawn is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mathew; sons, Mark (Terra) Pagano of Pittsburgh and Mat (Taylor) Pagano of Cortland; daughter, Stacey (Aaron) Alejars of Girard; grandchildren, Bella, Bobby, Joey, Dominic, Sofia, Nina, Gia, Vincent, Luca and Talia; sister, Ann (Rick) Malone; sister-in-law, Georgia Streamo; nieces, Kate and Maggie; nephews, Donnie, Chris and Rick; great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; friends; and her former co-worker and best friend, Jan Divelbiss.

Preceding Dawn in death were her parents; in-laws, George and Margaret Pagano; and brother-in-law, Donald Streamo.

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at St. Joseph Warren Hospital for its excellent and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association.

Family and friends may pay their respects to Dawn from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, 457 Robbins Ave., Niles, OH 44446.
