NILES -- Michael Vern DeFalco, 53, passed away peacefully, at 8:28 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at his home, with his loving family at his side. He died following a short battle with pancreatic cancer and a long battle with cystic fibrosis.
He was born in Warren, on May 28, 1969, the son of John "Jack" and Carolyn Furlong DeFalco. He was a 1987 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and received many training certifications in computer sciences. He instructed computer sciences at Kent State University Trumbull Campus, and the Trumbull Career and Technical Center. For many years, he was the owner of Custom Computer Center in Niles and multiple rental properties.
Michael was interested in and learned about the many advancements of computer technologies throughout his life. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, racing on road courses, and watching NASCAR. He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. Michael believed that family and friends come before anything or anyone in this world. He committed his life and days to helping others, and never let a day go by that he wasn't checking on his mom and getting her favorite Popsicles, etc. His love language was absolutely acts of service and kindness.
Michael is survived by his wife, Tina M. Mechling DeFalco, whom he married Oct. 19, 2008; mother, Carolyn DeFalco of Howland; two stepdaughters, of whom he was extremely proud, Brianna Knight of Medina and Shelby Barnett of Niles; sister, Tami (John) Kost of Howland; and two brothers, John DeFalco of Howland and Joe (Cindy) DeFalco of Howland. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved, cherished and spoiled, and was a constant support and confidant for as if they were his children.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lori Ann Wilson DeFalco, who died Nov. 3, 1997; his father, Jack; and nephew, Lance-Michael DeFalco.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday April 21, 2023, at Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
