Nancy R. Donnell 1930-2023

WILDWOOD, Mo. — Nancy R. Taylor Donnell, 93, formerly of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away at her home in Wildwood, Mo., on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023.

Born Jan. 17, 1930, in Greene, Ohio, and raised on a working farm, Nancy graduated high school and went to work for a local bank. Nancy was introduced to her future husband, Harley Donnell, by her sister, Joan. Nancy and Harley raised their four children in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Nancy was active in the local Republican Party, participating in voter registration drives and officiating at the voting polls. Nancy volunteered at Meals on Wheels and the Little Turtle Gift Shop, operated by the Aboite River Women’s Club. Nancy was a longtime member of the Fort Wayne Country Club, and on occasion, won mention in the local newspaper for her golf team’s success. Her favorite pastimes were playing golf, spending time in her garden, and time with her family and friends. She had moved to Atlanta. Ga. in 2018 and St. Louis, Mo. in 2022 to be near her family.

Nancy is survived by sons, Brent of Missoula , Mont. and Stephen (Holly) of Wildwood, Mo.; daughter, Daren Sue (Brian) Truex of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Grant (Haley) Truex of Denver, N.C., Elaine (Zane) Troxtel of Geraldine, Ala., Kristin of St. Louis, Mo., Ryan (Rachel) of St. Louis, Mo. Amanda of Kalispell, Mont., and Cameron (Meghan) of Missoula, Mont.; and great-grandchildren, Kwintyn and Garin of Kalispell, Mont., Evelyn and Miles of Denver, N.C., and Parker Jo of St. Louis, Mo.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, who passed away 18 years ago at the age of 76; and by her son, David, who passed away 21 years ago at the age of 42.

Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, with calling one hour prior. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, 5910 Homestead Road, or for the benefit of honorably discharged veterans and their spouses.
