WARREN -- Nelson Arthur Peterson, 89, of Warren, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at home.
He was born Nov. 5, 1932, in North Bloomfield, the son of the late Louis and Myrtle Carlson Peterson.
On March 21, 1958, he married the former Florence Russ. They shared 64 years of marriage and many wonderful memories.
He was a graduate of Mesopotamia High School and owned and operated Peterson Auto Body for 37 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War.
Nelson was a farmer prior to opening the auto body shop. He was a trustee in the Methodist Church, president of the Independent Garage owners, LaBrae Band Boosters and Mespo Boy Scouts, and a Trumbull County Master Gardner Emeritus. He enjoyed volunteering and contributing to his community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Florence (Russ) Peterson of Warren; daughter, Barbara (David) Enoch of Lordstown; son, Russell (Ursell) Peterson of Gaitherburg, Md.; brother, Harold (Macel) Peterson; sisters, Louise Grenter and Elaine (Greg) Ferance; granddaughter, Shaye (Chris Ret) Peterson; and grandson, Jared Enoch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, June Wilcox and Evelyn Leach; and brother, Louis Peterson III.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Chaplain Steve Brown will officiate.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any material contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice, 970 Windham Court Suite #9, Boardman, OH 44512, or the Parkinson's Foundation in his memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
