Rhys D. Winter 1996-2021

WILDWOOD, Mo. — Rhys Daniel Winter, 25, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at his home.

Rhys was born March 30, 1996, in Warren. He attended John F. Kennedy High School, where he was recognized in 2013 for his excellence in the field of art. After he graduated in 2014, he went on to study anthropology with a focus in religious studies at Kent State University, graduating in 2018.

A proud achievement of his was the work he did as a mentor for the United Christian Ministries to bridge the gap between the LGBTQ community and the church.

Rhys loved the arts and to create whatever he imagined. He regularly created comics, short stories, anime characters, cosplay costumes, paintings and knitted beanies for his friends and family.

He was a lover of all creatures, leaving behind his cat, Jack-O-Lantern, his three tarantulas and his bearded dragon, Figment.

Rhys Daniel Winter was predeceased by his fiancee, Katherine E. Ratliff; and grandmother, Geraldine Delle-Curti.

He is survived by his paternal grandfather and grandmother, Richard and Sue Miller; his chosen family, Alex Moore and Britani Palazzolo; paternal father, Jeff Miller; paternal grandmother, Catherine Bowker; two maternal sisters and one maternal brother; his self-proclaimed siblings, Ashley Kibler, Kristen O’Gorman, Charles Regelman and Sean O’Gorman; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at the American Legion Hall, 1029 N. Main St., Niles, OH 44446.
