VERNON, Ariz. -- Karen E. Kohut Tranter, 60, of Vernon, Ariz., and formerly from Howland, passed away from a brief illness Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Summit Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Ariz. Karen was born Jan. 23, 1961, in Warren, the daughter of Edward Kohut and GeraldineDerring Kohut.
She graduated from Howland High School in 1979, and then completed
her degree from the Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing in 1983, before moving to Arizona to begin her career as a registered nurse. Over the course of nearly four decades, she devoted her life to caring for others. Karen recently retired and loved the picturesque community of the White Mountains. She had a love of cooking, home-network shopping and traveling.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Bethany Tranter Porter (Denver) of Mesa, Ariz.; her partner of seven years, Thomas Selby of Vernon, Ariz.; her father, Edward Kohut of Warren; her sister, Leah Kohut Franken (Brad) of Cortland; brother, Charles Kohut of Warren; brother, Robert Kohut of Texas; along with her niece, three nephews and her extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Kohut; and sister, Sandra L. Bishop.
