Darwin F. Bolyard 1925-2021

FLOWER MOUND, TEXAS -- Darwin F. Bolyard, 96, formerly of Champion, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, in hospice care.

He was born April 6, 1925, in Manheim, W.Va., the son of Ora and Lucy McVicker Bolyard.

On March 25, 1951, he married Waneta Shockey, who passed away in 1996. He and his wife had fostered more than 300 children.

He was a practicing pastor and master electrician, prior to retiring. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during World War II on a vessel in the South China Sea.

Survivors include his daughter, Jackleen (David) Dohlman, with whom he made his home; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters; and one brother.

His wife, his stepson, his adopted son, two sisters and two grandsons preceded him in death.

There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 28, 2021, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Champion.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the ASPCA or the Wounded Warrior Project.
