John R. Shiamone 1954-2021
YOUNGSTOWN — John Richard Shiamone, 66, entered eternal life on Monday, June 28, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was born Sept. 17, 1954, in Warren, to Michael and Marie Kopscik Shiamone.
John graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, Class of 1972. He played on the Warren G. Harding, State Champion Football team of 1971. He was very proud of his State Championship as a Panther. After graduating high school, he worked for the Open Road RV company doing motorhome repair work that eventually led him to opportunities in Maryland and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. While there, he did similar work for the Whittington Brothers Racing Team. He also worked for the U-Haul Company for 21 years as an area field manager in Northeast Ohio and later started the John Shiamone Transportation Co. LLC.
John married Vada Davis on April 17, 1982. Together they raised their daughter, Jessica, and were married for nine years. Vada preceded John in 1991.
In 2004, John married Catherine Vanderburg and was a father figure to her three children, Jennifer, Daniel and Melissa.
John will be remembered by many cousins and other close family members. They will miss his sense of humor, his comedic timing and jokes. He was a master storyteller and loved to tell you about his Florida adventures and racing days. He rooted for all Cleveland teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians and enjoyed all types of car races. The wilder the WWF or WWE throwdown, the more entertaining John found professional wrestling.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Shiamone of Youngstown; his wife, Catherine Shiamone and her children, Jennifer Drennen of Newport News, Va., Daniel (Stephanie) Vanderburg of Niles and Melissa Vanderburg of Brownwood, Texas; and their five grandsons, Andrew Vanderburg, Aldrick, Derrick and Jacob Drennen, and Zachary Vanderburg; siblings, Michael Shiamone of Clearwater, Fla. and Susan Shiamone, Mary Shiamone and Joseph (Michelle) Shiamone, all of Warren.
A host of nieces, nephews and cousins will cherish the memory of stories entertainingly told by John.
