Ronald W. Belak 1942-2021

HOWLAND — Ronald W. “Ron” Belak, 78, of Howland Township, entered peacefully into eternal life at 21:17 on Holy Thursday, April 1, 2021, in his home after becoming ill prior to leaving for church earlier in the day.

Ron was born Wednesday, June 17, 1942, in Warren the son of the late Walter A. and Frances “Fran” Tomse Belak and was a lifelong area resident.

Ron was a graduate of Howland High School and furthered his education with a degree in education from Kent State University and would go on to teach high school math at Bloomfield High School.

A veteran of the Navy, he received the National Defense Service Medal and was awarded an honorable discharge on Aug. 1, 1967.

Ron was a devout Catholic and said the rosary daily. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Warren and a member of its 400 Club.

He enjoyed golfing, especially at his favorite golf destination of Monterey, California. Ron enjoyed traveling yearly to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons National Parks. He also was a lover of the Cleveland Indians and Browns.

He is survived by his brother, Ted (Cynthia) Belak of Westlake Village, California; and by a niece and nephew Andrew Belak and Jennifer Belak.

Family will receive friends from 9 until 9:50 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, in St. Mary Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian burial, with the Rev. Frantisek Katrinak officiating, will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, in the church.

Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Ron’s name to the Restoration Fund of St. Mary Catholic Church, 232 Seneca St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44481.
