Wendall O. Jenkins 1944-2021

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — Wendall Orrin Jenkins, 76, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021.

He was born Aug. 6, 1944, in Warren, to Raymond and Mary Francis Jenkins.

He graduated from Warren G. Harding (Senior) High School in 1962. He worked as a young man in the steel industry during the 1960s and later worked as a construction laborer.

Wendall was a devoted husband and father. He was married to his one true love, Sandra Lyons, for 59 years and she survives.

He is also survived by his children, William (Troy) Brady of Columbus, Derrick Jenkins of Lawton, Okla., Monica Jenkins of Washington, D.C. and Cassandra Lewis of Fountain, Colo.; his nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; his sister, Barbara Jean Stroud of Warren; and an assortment of nieces, nephews and cousins.

His faith in God was always displayed when he spoke to family and friends. As an active member of Narcotics Anonymous, he was a respected, caring sponsor and support for multiple of recovering members not only in Michigan, but Ohio, Texas and Oklahoma as well. Since statring his recovery journey over 25 years ago, he had managed to build a strong network of friends and supporters who meant the world to him. He maintained many of those friendships throughout the years. As you listen to friends and even relatives you will continuously hear the stories of inspiration, love, support and dedication that Wendall showed everyone he came in contact with. His most referenced saying was “Stay strong; this too shall pass.”
