Frank J. Spano Sr. 1930-2020

WARREN -- Frank J. Spano Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020.

He was born March 13, 1930, to the late Lawrence and Mary Anastasia Spano.

Frank was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in 1948 and soon after graduation, he started working for System Auto Body.

Then he heard the calling of the Army when he was 20 years old. After being honorably discharged, he went to work at Clyde Cole Motor Co., where he retired after 35 years as the body shop manager.

On Aug. 6, 1955, he married the love of his life, Roselyn, and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Frank was a devout Catholic. He was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and served as Eucharistic minister to the homebound and area nursing home patients.

Frank was a lifetime member of Eagles Lodge and Fraternal Order Police Associates Frank Spano Chapter No. 12, where he held many different offices. He was also a member of the AHEPA Zeus No. 88 and Elks Lodge 295. He loved to golf, to fish and to go to garage sales, but most of all he loved telling jokes and spending time with his family.

Frank is survived by his wife, Roselyn; a daughter, Ellen Spano of Warren; a son, Frank J. (Diane) Spano Jr. of Warren; grandchildren, Wayne (Hope) Gore of Niles and Paul Gore of Warren; stepgreat-grandson, Liam Hummel; his mother-in-law, Hellen Prince; and his dog, Trixie.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Catherine Barger, who passed away Sept. 27, 2020.

A private family service was held.

Burial was in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta.

Arrangements are by the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel.
