Claudette Wood 1953-2020
CORTLAND — Claudette Wood, 67, entered the arms of the Savior she loved, suddenly from natural causes, on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020.
She was born June 9, 1953, to Claude and Bernitea Conley.
Claudette went to Maplewood Schools graduating in 1971. She attended ITT in Youngstown, graduating with a diploma in secretarial studies.
After graduation she married the love of her life, Roger, on Aug. 12, 1972. They enjoyed 48 years of a happy marriage.
Claudette loved the Lord Jesus and was involved in Fowler Community Church in the Willing Workers and had taught Sunday school.
She was employed as a secretary in the maintenance department at Hillside Hospital for 13 years.
She was known for her sweet spirit, and there was no one she didn’t love.
She was a lover of birds and dogs and flowers. She also loved to travel and had traveled to the Caribbean islands, Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland and most of the continental U.S.
Claudette is survived by her husband, Roger; her four siblings, Robert (Cheryl) Conley, John (fiancee, Coreen) Conley, Wendy (Joe) Mistak and Julie (Ted) Halubka; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and one nephew, Michael Conley.
Visitation will be at the Fowler Community Church on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.
