NILES -- Harold E. Shaulis, 77, formerly of Somerset, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Somerset, a son of Clark I. and Margaret M. Snyder Shaulis, and graduated from Somerset High School in 1960. He and his wife moved to Niles in October 1965.
He was a group leader at ITT Grinnell Corp. in Warren for many years and later worked at various Delphi Packard plants before retiring in 2006. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He leaves his wife, the former Gloria J. Saponsky, whom he married May 2, 1964; two daughters, Lorri Shaulis (Rick Powell) of Warren and Debora Flora (Mark) of Youngstown; a granddaughter, Kayla Powell of Columbus; two grandsons, Matthew Powell of Warren and Christopher Flora of Youngstown; a brother, Kenneth Shaulis (Arlene) of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Carol Miller (Glenn) and Shelby Defibaugh (Donald), both of Somerset; a brother-in-law, John J. Saponsky (Sally) of Harrisburg, Pa.; two aunts, Ada Esherick of Somerset and Sarah Matkoskey of Troy; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His parents are deceased.
Services will be private. Interment is in Casebeer Cemetery.
