Gary D. Pressell 1947-2019

NILES -- Gary Duane Pressell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, age 72, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019.

Gary was born Jan. 1, 1947, in Warren, to a doting Benjamin and Ruby Keeling Pressell.

After graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1965, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1966 to 1969, twice serving in Vietnam. He studied at Youngstown State University until taking a job at General Motors in Lordstown, where he worked for 33 years. In 1971, he married the love of his life, whom he spoiled for the next 48 years until his untimely passing.

Gary loved to serve others. He spent his life helping wherever and whenever he could, including volunteering with Trumbull Mobile Meals, coaching his children's sports, DJing dances at Fairhaven, or serving the needs of his church community. He loved family, traveling, music, sports, and was unbeatable at "Who Sings This Song." Gary was a great listener and always a gentleman. He leaves a legacy of love and fun that we will try our best to emulate in his unfortunate absence. He loved to be around people and strangers were only people he hadn't talked to yet. He will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Hrusovsky Pressell, whom he married Sept. 4, 1971; his four children, Kurt (Holly) Pressell, Sonya (Justin) Daines, Kristen (Ryan) Werden and Derek (Lesley) Pressell; his brother, David (Sandra) Pressell; eight grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Benjamin Pressell Jr. and Shirley Trunick; and nephew, Benjamin "Frank" Pressell III.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon, with funeral services at noon, Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at the First Christian Church in Niles.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family asks that donations shall be made to Trumbull Mobile Meals, 323 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44481 or First Christian Church in Niles, 33 N. Arlington Ave., Niles, Ohio 44446
