Michael W. Payne

1967-2017

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Michael "Mike" Wayne Payne, 49, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born Dec. 29, 1967, in Clarksburg's U.P. Hospital, the son of Wayne and Charlotte Cochran Payne.

He was a 1986 graduate of LaBrae High School and Trumbull County Joint Vocational School.

Mike was a mechanic and a welder. Friends and co-workers said they had never seen a better welder than Michael.

He liked to work on vintage cars and loved to ride his Harley. He also enjoyed going to auctions with his mom and dad and buying and selling at the flea markets with his mom. Mike also liked to fish and hunt.

He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Payne of O'Fallon, Mo.; his brother, Gene (Brenda) Payne of Wright City, Mo., and their children, Cassidy Payne of O'Fallon, Mo.; Darren Murray and his wife April of Warrenton, Mo.; and their children, Eva, Nolan, Keeghan, and Michelle of Boardman; his ex-wife, Lisa Budnik of Warren; as well as aunts and uncles, Carl and Edna Rose Payne, Kenneth Payne, and Harold Payne, all of Mannington, W.Va., Lloyd Payne and Jane Payne Palmer, both of Warren, Jeannie and Dick Collett of Dailey, W.Va., Pam and Bill Deem of Clarksburg, W.Va., Mark Cochran of Beverly, W.Va., Carl Cochran of Warrenton, Mo., and Barbie Cochran of Belpre.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Payne; and his grandparents, John and Nola Good Payne and Eugene and Joan Markley Cochran.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 24, at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, W.Va. A funeral service will be noon Saturday, March 25, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
