HOWLAND – Donald W. “Donnie” Kordes, 66, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital of an extended illness.
He was born April 20, 1949, in Warren, the son of the late Howard and Mary Kordes.
He was a graduate of Howland High School and attended Youngstown State University. For the past 10 years he had worked for Trac Research in Warren as an abstracter. He had previously owned and operated the Safari Lounge in Rainbow Lanes for 15 years. Donald had belonged to the Westside Maple Leaf Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, was an avid sports fan and he was also known as a people person.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie “Marge” Kordes, whom he married April 19, 1980; three daughters, Joyce (Zach) Johnson of Staunton, Va., Christine “Tina” Kordes of Warren and Melanie Kordes of Warren; a brother, Howard “Jeff” (Jill) Kordes of Cortland; and two sisters, Linda Kordes and Sharon Sibera, both of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Marry Ann Short officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Donald’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
