NILES -- Residents have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be from the Niles Fire Department, asking for money in exchange for smoke detectors. But it's a scam, said fire Chief David Danielson. The department is not selling detectors and does not have any ongoing fundraisers, Danielson said.
The calls should be ignored, Danielson said.
